FIP Information
In Montenegro, FIP 50 Tickets and FIP Coupons are accepted by the railway company ŽPCG (Željeznički prevoz Crne Gore). Acceptance applies across the entire rail network.
Interesting
The rail network in Montenegro is small, but strategically important for travel within the country. The central north-south axis (Belgrade - Bar) serves the most important Montenegrin intermediate stations such as Bar, Podgorica and Bijelo Polje.
In addition, the Podgorica - Nikšić line is relevant for domestic traffic. It directly connects the country’s second-largest city to the capital.
The connection from Podgorica to Shkoder (Albania) exists, but is currently only used for freight traffic.
Arrival and Border Points
Serbia
From Serbia, Montenegro can be reached by the only cross-border night train.
Albania
A cross-border railway line between Montenegro and Albania exists, but is currently only used for freight traffic. At present, there is therefore no regular international passenger rail connection for travellers.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
There is no rail connection between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.
Croatia
There is no rail connection between Croatia and Montenegro.
Kosovo
There is no rail connection between Kosovo and Montenegro.
Balkan Flexipass
For travellers through several Balkan countries, the Balkan Flexipass could be worthwhile in terms of price. It enables unlimited travel on the rail networks of:
- Bosnia and Herzegovina (ZFBH),
- Bulgaria (BDZ),
- North Macedonia (MŽ-Transport),
- Greece (HT & Attica),
- Montenegro (ŽPCG),
- Romania (CFR Calatori & Regiotrans),
- Serbia (SV),
- Slovakia (ZSSK / ŽSR),
- Turkey (TCDD).
